Spenser's swim lessons
I signed Spenser up for swimming lessons through Raleigh parks & rec. The coach was from the Red Cross. I want to make sure my kids know how to swim since I never learned but am now as an adult. My main thing is still not knowing what to do if I can't touch the bottom. Anyhow, this boy loves a pool so we're good. Lessons were every Saturday in July. He'll need more of course but many times he asked the coach to let him go so he can do it!

Beach trip without the beach!
Today we went to the Battleship & Aquarium. We would have gone to the beach but it was so rainy! It was a great time, I hadn't been to the battleship since 1991!

Army Museum
Today we went to the Army Museum in Fayetteville (not sure of it's correct name). It was fun to see what was used in past wars as compared to what is used today.

Spenser's 5th birthday
I was driving to pick up the kids at daycare and noticed a place that looked like it sold swingsets. I thought it looked cool from the road so I pulled in to take a closer look. The place was called "Go play outside now" & it was actually an outdoor play park. I found the website & called about maybe having Spenser's party there & it was so cheap! The best part was that all adults were free which is fantastic as sometimes there are more adults than kids & that can get pricey! This place rocked- it had all kinds of cool, cute things. The best was water slide that adults can go on too (actually adults could play on everything- mostly)! It was such fun & we plan to go again just to play!
As a bonus, here is a video of me going down the water slide! (I didn't scream nearly as much the other times after this as I was used to it by then!

Party favors
I love to throw theme parties. Currently I'm using Spenser's birthday parties for that occasion! I let him pick what character he wants & then I buy favors accordingly. Last year Spenser wanted Thomas the train so I bought Thomas pez & Thomas train whistles (they had to be Thomas themed- regular train themed won't do for me!)
This year he wanted a Lego party so I found Lego mini figures & animal to build & Lego crayons on Ebay & Etsy for fairly cheap. As far as the favor bags go, Lego was discontinuing it's line at Party City so I had no luck finding Lego loot bags at the many Party City's I went to in town so I bought red bags from Walmart, then looked up Lego Ninjago eyes on Google images & printed them off, cut them out & taped them on. Instant Lego loot bag!

Spenser's Preschool graduation
Today my big boy graduated from preschool. His teacher has been wonderful! He has learned a lot not only education wise but social wise as well. In his little class of about 8, he & one other child were the graduates as the others are still 4. Congrats Spenser!
